What can I say; I left at the end of summer term 1963, and
took an apprenticeship as a ladies hairdresser.
The '60's, what a great era to be around all those women!
Life was sweet!! what I remember of it! I completed the course
in 1966 and continued on as a hairdresser until 1968, when
I sort of drifted out of it.
Julian(Micky)Harvey (remember him?) and I were tight for
several years, but lost touch sometime around 1970, I don't
know how, it just sort of happened.
Marryied Sylvie in 1967, we've been together ever since,
that's 36 years!! 2 sons, John, born in '67, whose just (in
November 2003) made me a grandfather, and Paul born in 1971.
Paul has Severe Learning disabilities, but has a job and his
own flat, so he's doing OK.
I joined British Airways - then B.O.A.C, in 1972 but left
in 1974 for a job as a computer tape librarian with Gallagher's
the cigarette company, which for those that remember me, should
not be surprising. I stayed with them for nearly 22 years,
only leaving in 1995 because of.......... Well a long story
we won't go into here. I went back to Heathrow Airport after
a 'rest', in early '96 doing rubbish jobs until at last I
got a job with British Midland at the beginning of October,
great, back with an airline at last! Fate, however, had other
ideas. The day before I was due to start I had a heart attack.
Off work for nearly a year after the heart attack, and having
used the rest of my redundancy money to live on, I joined
Camelot, the National Lottery, at the end of 1997, as a Senior
Operator/Supervisor, I'm now a Tech Support Analyst.
My life has had its share of ups and downs since leaving
Harlow College almost 40 years ago, but all in all life hasn't
been bad to me.
