I'm afraid my profile is fairly boring compared to most of
my contemporaries.
After Harlow I went to a co-ed boarding school in Surrey,
which was an eye-opener to say the least. Went on to Kingston
Poly and did law. Articles with a firm in the West End and
then eventually moved to Cirencester where I have been litigation
partner in a small firm of Solicitors for the last 20 years.
1 Son about to take A levels.
Said son'n'heir has been a great excuse to travel the world
on holiday over the last few years which has lead me to the
conclusion that home is probably best - or at least France
where I have recently built a house for when I retire.
No real outside interests except family activities, playing
around with computers and checking as often as possible on
my French investment, the latter mostly when the weather is
nice!
I look back at Harlow with mixed feelings. I think with one
or two notable exceptions the standard of teaching was appalling.
Certainly at my Son's school they seem very geared up to getting
the most out of the pupils. I think that there was far too
much bullying but again I'm probably judging that by modern
standards. On the other side it did give us a great deal of
freedom and no one was ever afraid to say what they thought
in stark contrast to my subsequent school where by the time
I joined them my contemporaries were well institutionalised.
However I survived, as did everybody else!
