If ever the meaning of the symbolism and heraldry in the
crest was explained to me, with the passage of time, I cannot
really remember what it all means.
I have a whisper of a memory that the left hand side had something
to do with the 'Life's a Journey' bit and to be a good pilgrim
through life (the shell was a symbol of the pilgrim) a little
bit of forcefulness (as in don't mess with me!) doesn't go
amiss, hence the sword. Onward Christian Soldiers and all
that.
As regards the right hand side, I seem to remember being
told that the three rings symbolised the Holy Trinity, as
in God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
But then it might not mean anything of the sort. Anyone out
there a member of the College of Heralds?
