This is a close-up of the Robin Hood mosaic that was placed
above the front door of the school. You can see it, often,
in house and school photos. (Keyes
House 1957, for instance). In 1956/1957 Mrs Haig, the
then art teacher, organised everybody to produce the individual
tessarae that became the mosaic. The terrazzo marble/tiling
was supplied by a company called Jaconello in Kingston upon
Thames. Chris
Dadson's father worked for a short time at Jaconello's
and persuaded them to supply the terrazzo!
Quite why the subject of Robin Hood was chosen, when exactly
it was put in place and what happened to it is not, as yet,
known.
