November 2023
A second article on the opening of the Memorial room in 1955 has been combined with the previous article (under documents/Newspaper clippings).
July 2023
The accounts for year to February 2023 are now available and listed along with the AGM minutes, agenda, attendance, apologies and obituaries in the documents/AGM Minutes section.
We also now have pictures of the two War Memorials that I believe originally hung in the dining room.
We have a new photograph of the Junior school in May 1947, complete with several of the names, courtesy of Colin Porcher. Interestingly there is another photo of the Juniors, also marked 1947 but quite different. Can anyone shed any light on why there are two different ones - maybe the previous picture is for Autumn 1947 but it seems a bit unlikely to be taking a picture in the Autumn.

May 2023
The latest AGM took place on 20th May, with 26 members attending. It was agreed at the meeting that the AGMs should continue, and next year's will be on Saturday 18th May 2024, in the same format. The group photo and provisional minutes of the meeting are now posted on this website, along with a revised obituary list including some losses reported at the meeting that have not been recorded before. Finally, it was suggested that a photograph of the memorial plaque in St John's church should be added to the website, and this is included both on the front page, and as an item among miscellaneous photographs.
April 2023
Sadly the most regular news item is the loss of two more members, Stephen Hayworth, who died last April, and Jimmie Roe, who died last October after a fall and stay in hospital. At the same time I note that other recent losses of members have not been recorded here, namely David Abbey, Alan Laycock, John Sear and Lionel Stammers.

August 2022
One further loss to report, though not actually a formal Old Harlovian some may remember Ralph Uglow 1950-55 lately living in the USA.
May 2022
Our very long serving secretary, Michael Dyke, and treasurer, Colin Porcher, retired at the recent AGM. Peter Smith (56 - 62) and Vic Bellingham (54 - 59) were elected as the new secretary and treasurer respectively.
Details of the latest AGM dinner with individual photographs are now posted. Minutes of the 2022 AGM (unratified) - the 2019 minutes are now ratified.
New House photographs have been posted for Keyes for 1959, 1961 and 1963.

February 2022
It has been a while since the last update, and in that time sadly we have lost two more members who have been regular attenders in the past. Peter Clear died last year on 28 November, and Bill Billings on 16 December.
Three new photographs have been added: exterior and interior pictures of St John's Church, and Latton pool. According to accompanying information, Latton pool was used for swimming by Old Harlow College in the 1920s. Does anyone remember hearing about this (or even swimming there)?

New photograph added at the end of Sports, an interesting picture of Terry Wright receiving the junior Victor Ludorum in 1955. 'Dick' Dames is clearly seen in the background, with probably Miss Johnson behind him on the edge of the photo, but we have no idea who was presenting the trophies. Likewise we are unsure about the location, probably the Art room at the back but what is the building just seen behind Miss Johnson with the window open? It's about where the gym would be but did the gym have windows like that?
March 2021
The lady who sent me the memories of her father, Fred Whitby, is also the niece of Roy Prior who died in World War II - his name is included in the World War memorials. She has now sent me a newspaper cutting reporting his death and a picture of the Great Parndon memorial. I have combined these in a short profile of Roy, in the RIP section. Sadly I don't imagine there is anyone left who remembers him.
This month's bad news is that we have heard of the deaths of two more members. John Fordham (50-56) died in July 2020, and Scott Findlay died early March this year. He was at the school in the 40's, probably having left somewhere around 1948.
We have received an improved 1961 Keyes House photograph from Richard Jay, thank you.

February 2021
I am grateful to have received some photographs from the daughter of Fred Whitby, two football team of 1933 and 1934, a cricket team of 1941, the ATC group of 1941, and a better copy of Form V in 1924. She also sent me Fred Whitby's memories of Harlow College which he wrote before he died, and these I have put with the Old Boy profiles.
December 2020
Just added a new Old Boy profile. I'm not saying which one, now would be a good opportunity to look at any you know or have heard of. And see if you can do better if I haven't had yours yet.
October 2020
The bad news keeps coming. I have just heard that Edward Cheshire (52-58) died unexpectedly on 6 August. I have no other details at present.
July 2020
And still more bad news. I have just heard that Hugh Jones (56-63) died peacefully on Saturday (24 July), surrounded by his family. Another case of lung condition, though I don't think it related to coronavirus. He had suffered for quite a while with COPD and had several visits to hospital recently as his condition deteriorated. Some of you may know him from the Facebook group he operated, called 'Who Went to Old Harlow College Boarding School'.
May 2020
Another sad loss. John Welch (41-46) died on 1st May after a long illness; a lung condition, but not the virus. The funeral will be small of course, but his wife is hoping for a memorial service at Takeley when all the trouble is over.
If any of you knew Nicholas Bowman, I have heard a report that he died last year. He was not currently a member, but funnily enough he did have a profile page.

April 2020
Yet more losses, I'm afraid. Brian Power (39-46) passed away in March, while we have only just heard that Peter Ross (46-55) died last September.
But on a positive note, we welcome a new member, John Ridge (53-55), Rodney house.
