John (Bas) Anderson (left in 1965) writes from Ireland, with his profile. See also 'Bits and Pieces' below

Do you have an e-mail address that old boys can get in touch with you on?

Tell the webmaster

Remember, if you do not want to use your real e-mail address, we can set you up with an Old Harlovians one (yourname@oldharlovians.co.uk) that automatically forwards e-mails to your real address. There is, of course, no charge for this, so please only ask to use this facility if you want to be super cautious.

New Pics

New archive photographs

Richard Baldry has sent in a Class List of 2b from Autumn 1961, showing marks achieved in all subjects, which was brave as he fares none too well! Are you on it?

Ralph Smith writes from across the big pond, with a school year photo of 1940. Anyone else out there of 1940 vintage. If so, view the photo and see if you can recognise anyone, just click here.

Anyone out there putting kids through private school? How do fees of £73 per term grab you? Well that's what the fees were at Harlow College in 1961. Mind you, the extras bill was something else. Check out where the money went, click here

Peter Madsen has come up trumps with 3 new archive photos for us:

The first is the Gym Team of 1952. Several of the faces are identified (including that of Michael Dyke, Old Harlovians Secretary). If you were at Harlow College in 1952, you could help us to identify the others. Click here to view this 1952 Gym Team Photo.

Next up is Nelson House 1951. Only a few names are so far identfied, so if you were at Harlow College and in Nelson House then, see if you can identify anyone for us by clicking the following link: Nelson House 1951

The same goes for the final photo in this series from Peter, Nelson House in 1955. If you can recognise yourself or others, let the webmaster know. Click the following link to view Nelson House 1955

Brian Wheatley has been in touch from deepest Wales, with two pictures of Rodney House. There are loads of names that need to be put to faces, so if you were in Rodney click the links to Rodney 1959 and Rodney 1961. By the way, Brian runs a bed and breakfast in Gwynedd, Wales, so if ever you need a place to stay in Beddgelert, here's your chance.

Peter Careless (left in '62) has sent in a good close-up of the Robin Hood Mosaic, that used to be above the front door to the school. To view this mosaic, click here. Peter has also let us have Keyes House photos of 1955 and 1957. Plenty of faces need names, so take a look and let the webmaster know if you recognise anyone.

Anymore House Photos out there? Is there no-one out there from Beatty?

2003 Reunion

Reunion 2003

Still waiting for the 'official' photos of the night. These, along with a report on the evening, will be the subject of another update which will happen... just as soon as Michael Dyke has used up the remaining frames on his holiday snaps, so that he can trek down to Boots!

Until then, you'll have to make do with the very 'un-official' Survivors photos, taken back at the Green Man after many 'large ones'.

Bits & Pieces

What do you know?

1. John (Bas/Maginty) Anderson in his profile, has managed to put a name to an oft remembered teacher that we probably (I realise now) drove to despair in the sixties. Does anyone else remember cooking a kipper on the gas heater behind his back, whilst Hailey-Dunne tried to teach us?

If there is a day of reckoning, I'd like to apologise right now to the 'keeper of records' for the severe ragging we inflicted upon this poor man. (webmaster).

2. Incidentally, the centre section of the 1940 school year photograph shows girls in the first row. Anyone out there know why? Was this just a wartime thing? What year did girls start attending Harlow College and when did they finish?

3. Does anyone out there know why we used the word "snacks" or "snax" to warn of the approach of a Staff Member or Prefect? The more normal word used in other schools in those days, was the Latin "Cave" (Beware).

4. Courtesy of Harlow Museum, an In Memorium page has been added to this website, commemorating those old boys and masters of Harlow College, who died in both World Wars.

5. For a potted history of Harlow College, again, courtesy of Harlow Museum* click on the photo on the home page, or, click here.

6. Quote: ' There were no generations to take my generation's place "
Peter Careless, left 1962.
